Five Day Pottery Retreat, May 27-31, 2026

Why here? Because this place is endlessly inspiring. And because it's not like anywhere else. The landscape, views, and the ever changing ocean are constantly showing us something new. Since moving to Twillingate, both Jason and Maaike have seen major changes in their work. Jason has been using the colours and textures in the local cliff faces and waves to guide his surfaces. Maaike has deepened her knowledge of plant and insect life, foraging through the gardens, bogs, and forests for subject matter. They'd love to share their skills and this amazing place with you. 

Our workshops are designed with beginner to intermediate skills in mind. You will have time on the wheel every day, as well as the opportunity to explore coil, pinch, and slab building projects. On the last day, weather permitting, we will have a beachside Raku firing. 

You will receive 4 hours of hands-on instruction every day, plus access to the studio until 7pm. Our studio is equipped with four wheels, two extruders, and a slab roller. Every student will be given 20 kgs of clay, and you will have the option to purchase more if you choose. Any pieces you wish to keep will be dried, glazed, fired, and shipped to your home by the end of the month.

Twillingate has a vibrant tourism industry, and offers a range of highly rated accommodations, food, and entertainment options. While you're here, you can enjoy boat tours, museums, music, and the Rock Cut hiking trail network. Take a tour of the winery, or relax at the pub.
