The Studio
Built in 1873, Victoria Hall is one of the oldest public buildings still standing in Twillingate. It’s been home to several fraternal organizations; North Star Division no. 15 Sons of Temperance, The Orange Lodge, and St. Peter’s Lodge No. 12 Society of United Fishermen.
The Society of United Fishermen is a fraternal organization founded in 1873. They lobbied the government and provided support to members at a time when services were inaccessible or non-existent for fishermen and their families. Over the years, the building hosted dances, weddings, and movie screenings. St. Peter’s Lodge SUF #12, Victoria Hall was designated a Registered Heritage Structure on April 28, 2006, by the heritage foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Work
In 2019, CUP Studios moved in and started making pots. Visitors will find an open, airy space filled with natural light. You can see our workspaces, tools, and materials. Watch the artisans at work and see pieces at all stages of production!
Ceramics is an endlessly challenging and rewarding medium. As craftspeople, we’re fascinated by process, and all the various techniques one can use when working in clay. It is a joy to share the behind-the-scenes side of making.
The Shop
Our work is available for sale on site and online. The studio is open 12-5 Thursdays to Sundays, from May to October. The studio is open by appointment the rest of the year.
